On the 10th of September 2025, an interactive session on “sustainability issues” was held with the ER Group and the Tourism Authority, spotlighting the intersection of leadership and sustainable development in Mauritius’ tourism sector. The CEO of ER Group, Mr. P. Espitalier- Noël and his team presented its sustainability roadmap, anchored in low carbon operations, circular economy practices, environmental protection, community engagement, and inclusive development. On the other hand, Mr. Louis Sylvain Méyépa, Director of the Tourism Authority, shared strategic insights under the theme “Leading with Purpose: Sustainable Practices for a Resilient Future,” where he advocated for a bold transition from traditional tourism models toward purpose driven approaches. He outlined five foundational pillars Governance, Green Infrastructure, Community-Led Tourism, Education & Inspiration, and Digital Innovation as key drivers for shaping a resilient and forward-looking tourism sector.
This first session featured active engagement and discussions with stakeholders across the private sector, fostering dialogue on shared challenges and collaborative solutions. The ER Group extended its appreciation to the Tourism Authority for accepting the invitation and expressed hope that the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Authority will continue to act as a key facilitator between ministries/departments and the private sector to advance to a more sustainable future for Mauritius. The Tourism Authority also reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to accelerate progress towards shared sustainability goals.
